2001 Paramedic of the Year
The Paramedic of the Year award is for outstanding Advanced Life Support care provided by a paramedic in Skagit County.  This year's winner is Becky Deryckx, whose years of service and dedication to her profession have not gone unnoticed and through whom many patients have benefited by her compassionate and expert care.  Becky has been a Paramedic since 1986. She has been involved in all facets of EMS education with a special interest in Pediatrics.  Her professionalism, high quality of patient care and her willingness to share her knowledge with others, personifies her commitment of service to others.

2001 B.L.S. Provider
The B.L.S. (Basic Life Support) Provider award is for outstanding care provided by an Emergency Medical Technician or First Responder in Skagit County.  Diane Martinez is this year's recipient.  Diane has been an EMT with Big Lake Fire Department for four years.  Her dedication as a volunteer firefighter–EMT, training officer with the fire academy and commitment toward excellent patient care, exemplify the standards we strive to.

2001 E.M.S. Educator
The E.M.S. (Emergency Medical Services) Educator award is for outstanding and dedicated service as an E.M.S. educator.  Ann Moore is this year's winner.  She has been involved in the EMS instruction for nine years and is always willing to assist others and train when asked.  She continues to assist Skagit County Fire Academy and Skagit EMS Council with BLS and ALS education.  Her humor, energy and dedication have not gone unnoticed.

2001 Council Service Award
The Council Service award is for the exemplary service of a volunteer for the EMS Council.  Chiyeko Ozaki is this year's winner.  She has been a CPR instructor for many years both as an independent contractor and employee since 1994 to present.  Chiyeko has assisted us for many years in the public school CPR classes, unselfishly providing lifesaving instruction to our young people.  There are hundreds who can say that they learned CPR from Mrs. Ozaki.  Thank you Chiyeko for your many years of excellent service.
