Sixteen Skagit County Providers Successfully Pass EMT Course
Sixteen Skagit County emergency service personnel have completed their Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) basic course.

The providers completed the three-month course at the end of April. The course was conducted by the Skagit County EMS Commission, which conducts two EMT basic classes per year paid for by the emergency medical services levy.

The course included 152 hours of classroom instruction, practical application of skills, and time in a hospital and on an ambulance working with and observing patients. Subjects included patient care, anatomy and physiology, musculoskeletal care and other areas giving the EMT well-rounded exposure to what they would experience working with patients when responding to emergency calls. The students also passed course and state exams.

The new EMTs were sponsored by their various agencies. The providers who completed the course are as follows:

I could have died a year ago when I had my heart attack, if it wasn't for Skagit County Medic One! Their highly motivated and well-trained members gave me my life back. Without Skagit County Medic One and the associated system, I wouldn't be alive a year later.
