Injury Prevention

Public Training
Skagit County Medic One not only provides training to Emergency Responders, but also to the general public -- the frontline in the Chain of Survival.

Public Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation &
First Aid Training Courses:

The Skagit County EMS Commission is proud to offer CPR and first aid training to Skagit County residents.  Proper public CPR and First Aid buy those important first few minutes before Emergency Medical Personnel arrive.  Courses are offered to Skagit County residents at $5 per person, to cover the cost of certification cards and materials.

For most of our courses, CPR and First Aid are taught in conjunction over two, four hour sessions.  Participants are encouraged to attend both sessions.  Beginning in 2008, all classes will be taught using curriculum from the American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI).  Participants who successfully complete the course will receive certification, valid for two years, from ASHI.

Class sizes are limited due to available location space.  It is necessary to sign-up for one of the following courses if you wish to receive this training.  Reservations will not be accepted until at least three weeks prior to the day of the course.  Reservations can be made by calling Bill Craig at 428-3236, or by e-mail at billc@skagitems.com.
