Training and Education

We know that what’s done in the field can affect an individual’s recovery much later. For instance, minimizing the paralyzing affects of a stroke gives a fuller life back to the victim.

The Medic One system provides standardized education and training for all field emergency personnel, giving everyone the best care possible.

Fall 2012 EMT Class

The Fall 2012 EMT class is currently open for enrollment. All applications must be received no later than Tuesday, August 28th at 4:30pm.

EMT, EMR, and Paramedic Certification/Re-certification

For Initial Certification, please download the forms necessary from the Washington State Dept of Health at http://www.doh.wa.gov/hsqa/emstrauma/licproc.htm#Initial Licensure Process Once this form is downloaded and completed please bring in a copy of your course completion certificate, current ID and NREMT certificate. We will then evaluate it, have it signed by the MPD and submitted to the state.

For Recertification, please go online to https://fortress.wa.gov/doh/emsonline/EMSLogon.aspx and log in with your credential number (you can look it up here if you cannot find it https://fortress.wa.gov/doh/providercredentialsearch/SearchCriteria.aspx ) follow the prompts to completion. The request will then be reviewed by your Medical Officer, our Training Officer, then by the MPD. We would prefer you do the online renewal instead of the traditional paper method.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

ALS Providers: In addition to offering ACLS classes at United General Hospital we are also now offering courses through LifeTek Training in Mt. Vernon. 2012 United General Hospital classes have not been posted so please check back for updated class dates.

ALS OTEP Information and Calendar

BLS Training Calendar

2012 BLS  OTEP #1 will consist of- Cardiovascular Emergencies, Death and Dying, and Endocrine Emergencies. In addition to the normal OTEP Scenarios we will also be reviewing Aspirin  and Chest Pain Protocols,  and  C-Spine Clearance Protocols for BLS providers.

2012 BLS OTEP #2 will consist of Infectious Disease, Neurological Emergencies, Sepsis, and Upper Body Trauma. In addition to the normal OTEP Scenarios we will also be reviewing equipment and protocols for Pediatric King Airways and Epinephrine.
