Advanced Life Support OTEP

Starting in June of 2010, Skagit County Paramedics will begin participating in ALS Otep to satisfy the Washington State and National guidelines for ongoing clinical education.

The Paramedic OTEP Guidance document can be found here. This document explains the requirements for each Paramedic to satisfy their educational requirements.

OTEP sessions consists of : Run Review, Lecture, EMS Online lecture, Skills

*Important* Each OTEP session has an EMS Online “Tuesday Series” lecture attached to it. These lectures must be completed PRIOR to the OTEP session you are attending and you must print out verification that you pass the lecture exam. please bring the exam form with you for full credit.

*- OTEP sessions marked with a  ”*” are Trauma-related. A 2-day PHTLS class may be substituted for these OTEP sessions. Example: you take PHTLS in June of 2010. You would then be allowed to skip the OTEP sessions and Skill Stations marked with an “*” in November and December 2010 and all subsiquent classes marked with a “*” during your certification period. We will treat these skipped classes as though you attended them so they count towards your 8 OTEPS per year that you must make. You must still complete the EMS Online portion of the OTEP.

Skagit County Medic One has partnered with King County Medic One to provide online OTEP courses to our First Responders, EMTs and Paramedics. All providers should have a username and password assigned to them through the Skagit County Medic One training office. If not, please contact Bill Craig at 428-3230 to get signed up.
